Any Budding Bloggers Out There?

January 23rd, 2011 editor No comments

Apologies for no recent band review updates however I’m under serious work pressure and have actually literally only caught the tail-end of a couple of performances and totally missed the others.

If anyone fancies their chances at writing a couple of reviews, don’t worry I’ll let you type it out beforehand and I’ll uppload it for you, please let Sharon know. Thanks.

Crossfire Bring In 2011

January 1st, 2011 editor No comments

Oh dear, I’m looking a little lax a doing reports this week! This time I have a very good excuse…I was the nominated babysitter for New Year’s Eve however I did actually get to The Kings for their final two tracks the Kings of Leon’s “Sex On Fire” and the AC/DC track “You Shook Me”.

Needless to say The Kings had been absolutely heaving with this popular band however I’m not sure when they’re back in 2011 as yet. You know where the “What’s On” calendar is.

Mid-Week Open Mic & Jam Session Night

January 1st, 2011 editor No comments

Wednesday 29th December saw an open mic night and I didn’t get there until the final two songs therefore I can’t write much at all other than Keri had a stinking cold and local band Freshly Baked performed an Acousticallly Baked set which, I’m told ,was very, very good and that they’ve been booked for a Friday night soon.

If anyone can fill in a report I’ll copy it onto this blog…thanks.

The Vivas Box Clever On The 26th

January 1st, 2011 editor No comments

Was it Boxing Night or not? There are many different arguments about this however there was no disagreement as one of our favourite bands returned to The Kings with their customary 40+ feel-good rockabilly songs to entertain their fans including quite a number of rock ‘n’ rollers and jivers.

Included in their two sets were classics such as “Summertime Blues”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, a great fun track “Jungle VIP” also known as “I Wan’na Be Like You” from the Jungle Book (“Now I’m the king of the swingers”), “Rock Around The Clock”, “Peggy Sue”, “That’ll Be The Day” and “Ubangi Stomp”, obviously “Johnny B. Goode”, “Surfin’ USA”, “Roll Over Beethoven”, “Rawhide”, “Maybellene”, “Summertime Blues” and of course the classic Buddy Holly “Not Fade Away”.

The Vivas will be back I think on February 19th however please check the new calendar for confirmation of this.
