Crossfire On Fire

April 4th, 2010 editor No comments

A busy Good Friday night gave Grimsby band Crossfire a very warm welcome back knowing that would be treated to a night of classic rock covers featuring such well-known names as Ugly Kid Joe, The Black Crowes, Tom Robinson, Golden Earring’s Radar Love”, Thin Lizzy, Oasis, Jet, The Fratellis, Deep Purple, Rolling Stone etc…all classic stuff, extremely well played and it sounded great.

I have this feeling that the United Kingdom rock bands have adopted the Kings of Leon’s “Sex On Fire” as its new national anthem, nearly every band covers this now, some better than others, however all crowds seem to be so up for this song I don’t think the quality really matters, needless to say Crossfire performed it extremely well. You’re going to have to wait until Saturday August 21st to see these guys again…now that’s a recipe for a hot night.

The What Reveal Another Side:-)

April 4th, 2010 editor No comments

The regulars love this local band and they enjoy playing here since they always pack the house out who like to dance the night away.

So exactly what did The What do for us this time? As usual we had a great Beatles medley which is guaranteed to get everyone moving, some Rolling Stones, a bit of The Who, Joe Cocker’s classic Beatles track “With a Little Help from My Friends”, Zutons, Kaiser Chiefs, Van Morrison, you pick ‘em, they play ‘em!

So what’s this about “Another Side”? How about some classic Soul & Motown tracks including Dobie Gray’s “Out On The Floor” and The Temptations “Get Ready”…now that surprised quite a few and as a bit of inside info expect some more of this genre in the near future. The What will be back and opening the official first night of The Kings contribution to The Louth Music Festival 2010 on Saturday July 3rd 2010.
