Jack & Anna’s Debut At The Kings

September 6th, 2009 editor No comments

It’s strange how some things in life turn out. At the last minute The Kings was let down by a band booked months ago but fortuitously, and after a successful three month summer European festival tour, Jack Broadbent & Anna McLintic played The Kings, most surprisingly, for their very first time.

It is very rare that we have such performers on a Saturday night therefore it was with interest to see how many of the regulars turned up. Did we need to worry? Not in the least, the place was packed with friends, family and fans to hear their own and a few cover songs.

Unfortunately Balding Bloke had a gig elsewhere and the sound did not carry too well down the bar however “up close and personal” they sounded great and what a tremendous voice Anna has…I was trying to remember who she reminded me of until their third set when Micky Broadbent joined them on bass and she belted out a couple of Fleetwood Mac numbers and there was the answer, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac!

This was quite simply delightful stuff, acoustic guitars with great vocals of the highest calibre and the audience loved them…plus we got a couple of unexpected encores as well! Naturally we all want to see them back again and we’ll ensure that this time we’ll give both them and Balding Bloke a bit more notice so keep your eyes open on the What’s On gig listing…it won’t be a long wait.
