One thing is for certain about this week’s music festival at The Kings…a completely different genre of music has been offered every night and Thursday was no different with the vastly experienced, and not often seen playing live in Louth, classic jazz and blues covers band Vanilla Smooth.
Klout are growing in stature every time they perform these days. Ever since they appointed Balding Bloke to engineer their sound the transformation has been quite remarkable with several noting that they always knew that Klout could play their instruments but had not realised just how well!
Wednesdays are normally Klout’s practice nights at The Kings when they usually have lots of fun trying out new ideas however this week they had a busy bar to entertain and entertain they did. With many of the bar joining in the singing of nearly 30 tracks such as Fags & Booze, Bucket, Creep, Wonderwall, Sex On Fire and Teenage Kicks one could be forgiven wondering just how they were going to finish their set but, of course they never fail to impress these days as they launched into a medley of We Will Rock You and Chelsea Dagger followed by Monster and then the bar errupted with the opening rifts of their own tremendous version of the classic AC/DC hit Whole Lotta Rosie.
What a week this is turning out to be!
Please see the attached comments in a detailed report of the night from Chris The Hat Gardner. Thanks…
The third night of live music at The Kings saw local trio Cappuccino take to the stage for two sets of 10 tracks.
How does one describe Cappuccino if you have never seen them before? Two guitarists with a bubbly blonde singer means that this is not going to be Cream or The Police yet they can hardly be called Peter, Paul & Mary. Apologies dear reader if I’m showing my age here & you haven’t a clue who this early 60s poppy folk trio were, just click on the highlighted link to find out more!
Cappuccino present popular songs in their own way and made even more interesting by them asking you to guess what the song is by its unique introduction. The Beatles feature quite prominently in their repetoire with such classics as We Can Work It Out, Ticket To Ride, Day Tripper and That Boy however this trio is extremely versatile evidenced with such classics as Come Together, Bony Moronie, the classic James Taylor’s “You’ve Got A Friend” and Sylv was well into her element with the Nancy Sinatra hit “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’”.
For their finale the trio was joined on stage by Chris “The Hat” Gardner to round off the night were the foot-stomping rock & roll songs Blue Suede Shoes, Jailhouse Rock and one of the longest versions of Johnny B. Goode I’ve ever heard…excellent…more please.
Balding Bloke was in his extremely comfortable zone on the second night of the Louth Music Festival in the Kings. Where else would you hear Pink Floyd, Taj Mahal, The Rolling Stones and Tantrum all on the same night?
A cold beer, a relaxed atmosphere & most importantly, extremely classical cool rock music was just the requirement for this sultry summer’s night. After Saturday night’s exertions it was a pleasure to enoy a few pints of excellent Bass and to meet some new-to-the-Kings music fans who had travelled over from Grimsby especially for the night.
